Obviously not. I’m sure like many others, you have the delusion that life is all about earning money. Let me clear that for you. Life is all about being happy in the moment. And being happy has different meanings for different people. For some people, travelling is a drug for happiness. For others, dancing brings out their emotions and makes them happy. If you are one among the umpteen people, running in a race to make more money, then it’s time for you to stop and do some introspection. Is this what you really want in life? Everyone’s target is different. Some just want to be happy in life, others successful and proud, while some others want to be painstaking. It’s important to realize what you want to do in life. Because only then can you perceive where to stop. If you are not happy doing what you are doing right now, then there’s no point in continuing to do it. Because your contribution is not wholehearted. You are just living a mechanical life.
Now I’m not telling you how to live your life because YOU are the master of your life. But sometimes you lose direction in life. You are lost. You don’t know what to do. You have earned enough money to be living a comfortable life. You have a roof over your head and food to survive. You have also earned enough money to take care of your bills and also, for your kids education, in the future. What I mean to say is, you have earned enough for you and your family to survive. Now after this, whatever you are earning is for living a luxurious life. Like I said, if you are happy doing your job, then there is no reason for you to quit. But if you are one of those people who isn’t satisfied with the kind of work they are doing because they are out of options, then it’s time for you to reconsider this. Are there really no other options? Or maybe you just don’t want to consider other options because then your source of income would be cut off. Think about it. You are ignoring a vital option where you can make money and also enjoy the process of earning it. You just have to take the risk of following your passion. Because like they say, “Where there is a will, there is a way!”. For some others, the I-can’t-follow-my-heart comes up because they got rejected when they tried to or are scared of getting rejected if they do.
If it’s the first case, then congratulations! You are already halfway through. You have decided to follow your passion and every successful person has failed at least once in their life before they got where they are now. These failures are what make your success more pronounced. The secret is to not give up. Recognize where you went wrong and improve on it. There is always another chance. And in the end, when you reach your destiny, this journey will be totally worth it. If you are afraid of losing, you can never win. Follow your passion because true happiness lies in doing what you love.
Life is unpredictable. So stop waiting for a tomorrow which could never come. Start today. Be confident. Believe in yourself and do whatever you want to because you control money, Money doesn’t control you. Eating in a small restaurant also gives the same happiness as eating in a 5-star hotel because what matters is the food and the company you have.
Social media has turned us all into narcissists who want to show that they are living the life of dreams. The day you realize that you don’t need a life of dreams, but you just need a life, all these misconceptions clear off and you start to see life the way it should be. You don’t have to prove to the world that you are happy, you need to prove to yourself. Go buy that ticket to Europe or open that bakery.
